How the ASTRYON story began

My name is Stefan and I want to share with you, briefly, how ASTRYON Festival came to life.

It all started on a Sunday morning, on June 28th. I woke up and, looking at the impressive festivals outside Romania, I asked myself a simple question:

“If it’s possible there, why couldn’t it be possible on the Romanian coast?”

It was a spur-of-the-moment decision. I didn't have vast experience in organizing festivals of such scale, nor do I claim I knew everything. I set out with just an idea, a lot of ambition and the conviction that Romania deserves a new festival, built with passion and respect for the artists and the audience.

There followed days in which almost every hour was dedicated to this project. I analyzed concepts, changed ideas, created renders, redid plans and tried to build an identity different from everything that exists today on the festival market.

In just one week, ASTRYON began to take shape.

But what I consider the most important achievement is not just the festival concept.

I managed to unite the community of DJs — men and women — in Romania, giving them all the same chance to be part of a new project and to be promoted together, regardless of experience or fame. Many of them have not had, until now, the opportunity to step onto the stage of a festival of such magnitude.

Through this project I wanted to convey a simple message: ASTRYON is a festival open to opportunities, a place where talent matters and where artists deserve to be seen and heard.

In just a few days I managed to do something that, from my perspective, I haven't seen achieved in the last two decades of festivals in Romania: to bring to the same table and under the same identity communities that until now had evolved separately, proving that together we can build something greater than each of us.

Of course, nothing was easy.

Stress, emotions, responsibility and sleepless nights became part of every day. ASTRYON means a new festival, a new concept and a huge challenge.

Even so, I never gave up for a moment.

ASTRYON was not designed for a single edition. From the very first day, the goal was to build a sustainable project, capable of staying on the Romanian coast for at least 10 years, growing and evolving with each edition.

I firmly believe that Romania has extraordinary artists who deserve a stage worthy of their talent. That is why I will continue to support the community of DJs and producers in Romania and, in the future, throughout Europe, especially those who have not yet had the chance to be seen and heard by such a large audience.

ASTRYON is more than a festival.

It is proof that sometimes a simple question and a decision made one morning can become the beginning of a story that can change something in the music industry.
